Sankofa: African-American Music from Spirituals to Hip Hop
Option 1: Pre-recorded Program
The Beast will provide a pre-recorded digital version of Sankofa, via a downloadable link, for the school to use for 1 week. This link can be viewed and shared with students among different classes and grade levels at 1 school as many times as needed, within the 1-week time period.
Option 2: Pre-recorded Program + a follow up Q & A Session
The Beast will provide a pre-recorded digital version of Sankofa, via a downloadable link, for the school to use for 1 week. This link can be viewed and shared with students among different classes and grade levels at 1 school as many times as needed, within the 1-week time period.
Additionally, one member of The Beast will schedule a follow-up Zoom session with a group of students, during or after the Sankofa program screening. This time can be used to answer questions about the curriculum, the band and/or the music. All musicians in The Beast are working professional musicians and we like to use some of this time to describe what that professional lifestyle looks like, in hopes of encouraging students who are interested in the arts, that there are viable careers in the arts.
**We will work with teachers ahead of time, to prepare a plan for engaging with a class or group of students in this remote experience.
Option 3: Live Streaming Program
The Beast will assemble for a synchronous live streaming of Sankofa for the school at an agreed upon time and day. Following the 45 minute show, the band will be happy to field questions from students for 15 minutes.
_______
Kids need the arts, especially during this time of increased social distance. The Beast’s virtual presentation hopes to offer history, knowledge, and comfort for students in this moment. We will do our best to work with your budget and schedule to accommodate your community.
